ABOUT THE ROLE

Holcim US, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a Plant Operator to support our plant operations in Severn, MD and surrounding areas.This position is primarily responsible for overseeing and operateing machinery and equipment in an industrial plant, ensuring it functions efficiently and safely. They are responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and sometimes repairing equipment, as well as adhering to safety protocols and regulations. This position typically works from 6:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday. Overtime will be required and shift times may be adjusted for business needs.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

• Using a computer or manual controls effectively operates primary or secondary crushing or other plant equipment in order to meet site production needs.
• May run a front-end loader or other material handling equipment to charge the plant with aggregate, sand and other materials.
• Maintains complete and accurate reporting of daily production.
• Oversees the quality assurance unit of a ready-mix concrete factory
• Operate mixing plants to produce batches of concrete from cement, sand, aggregate, water and other ingredients
• Responsible for monitoring and controlling the systems and equipment, as well as ensuring the quality of the products they produce.
• Supervising the mixing process to ensure that producers use the correct combination of cement and water, testing batches to confirm they have been made to specifications, and addressing any issues
• Must be willing to travel to different plant locations throughout VA & Possibly MD.
• Identifies daily and long-term potential plant issues relative to production and production goals.
• Maintains and controls minimum plant raw material inventories essential for manufacturing, production and delivery to meet production needs
• Willing to train right candidate (Preferably 6 months experience)
• WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent
• Required Work Experience: 1-2 years’ experience
• Excellent oral communication skills with close attention to detail
• Reliable transportation 
• 1-2 years Mechanical & Electrical experience
• Heavy Equipment Experience
• Licenses Required: N/A
• Required Computer and Software Skills: Basic computer skills
• Knowledge base in Aggregate production and quality manufacturing
• Ability to work in all weather conditions without limitations.
• Ability to lift 50lbs

• Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
