Summary
The EHS Specialist will work on site to develop and enhance a culture of consistent safe behavior according to the Company’s policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Will lead the behavior-based safety observation program. Ensure that all injuries have appropriate corrective actions, are identified and completed in order to prevent incident recurrence. Assist with and train supervisors on proper accident investigations and accident reports. Identifies potential causes for accidents and recommends changes in policies and procedures to prevent accidents and illness.
Reviews documentation with each occurrence to validate and audit as an internal control.
Help aid in development of a near miss reporting system.
Conducts weekly safety meetings in each department and serves as an advisor to onsite supervisors in recognizing and mitigating hazards and/or unsafe behaviors.
Conduct contractors, site, and equipment inspections.
Conduct daily/weekly/monthly safety audits per company and regulatory requirements.
Trains employees on safety and health requirements to ensure compliance with the Company’s policies and OSHA regulations. Assist in creating and maintaining various reports on safety performance and initiatives (trending analysis). Leads emergency response preparedness plans, drills, and subsequent corrective actions. Maintain KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) and score cards to drive continuous improvement. Ensure USDA regulatory compliance, HACCP, SSOP, SOP, GMP, and SQF program for product quality, performance and safety. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education and/or Experience
Associates’ degree or knowledge equivalent to.
Two years’ experience in environmental and/or safety in a manufacturing facility preferred but not required.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Ability to aid in the development and implementation of new systems.
Ability to perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) Word Processing software.
