Job Description

We’re rapidly expanding and looking for an insurance underwriting assistant to help move insurance policy decisions forward. In this position, you’ll collect and enter accurate information for new, existing, and prospective clients that serves as the foundation for decisions made by your insurance underwriter counterparts. As you support their efforts, you will grow and hone your own communications, data entry, and reporting skills; advancing to future opportunities. • Compile data and analytics for reports that can advise insurance policy guidelines and whether coverage should be provided
• Notify and document policy approvals or rejections for clients, colleagues, and supervisors
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date records within underwriting software programs by verifying all documents for accuracy and completion in order to provide sound policy recommendations to prospective and existing customers
• Assume the role of communications liaison between underwriters and customers in order to track, manage, and prioritize insurance services
• Communicate with applicants in person and via phone and email to collect current and accurate insurance information to use in the development of risk assessment profiles
• Review both new and renewal policies for accuracy
• Review changes to client policies for accuracy

Qualifications:

• Willingness to pursue designation as a Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU)
• Working as an administrative assistant or similar, or a role in the insurance industry is a plus
• Exemplary interpersonal and communications skills
• Must have a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, business administration, or other related field
• Must be detail-oriented to collect and maintain accurate client records
