Job Description Summary:
The Department of Biological Sciences at Oakland University invites applicants for a full-time tenure track faculty position in Genetics of Thrombosis and Hemostasis, to start August 15, 2025. This is a full-time position, where the successful candidate will establish a vigorously funded research program, while also engaging in student teaching and research mentoring of graduate and undergraduate students. The successful candidate will join a vibrant, multi-disciplinary research core focused on thrombosis and hemostasis within the department. Teaching duties include courses related to genetics, biochemistry, molecular biology, physiology, or specialized topics at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, as part of a team of faculty and instructors within the department. Participation in service and program development activities is required as part of the position. This 9-month appointment offers a competitive salary package and outstanding retirement and health care benefits. Additional compensation may be available for summer research and instruction May through August.
Minimum Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in Genetics or a related field and 5 years of postdoctoral research experience in the genetics and physiology of hemostasis, with demonstrated scientific productivity exemplified by research publications and a developed track record of funding. The successful candidate should have experience with coagulation assays, flow cytometry, and murine hemostasis models. Experience teaching lecture and laboratory courses is also highly desirable and will be considered favorably. Candidates must also demonstrate experience with or a commitment to diversity and inclusion, including the ability to implement evidence-based and inclusive teaching practices.
